It claims that 1968 FBI memorandum obtained through an FOIA lawsuit, "justifies the employment of Grateful Dead lead singer Jerome Garcia 'to channel youth dissent and rebellion into more benign and non-threatening directions." Anyone have any confirmation on this, or know of any Grateful Dead connections to international intelligence agencies? And why were the Bosnian ambassador and Mass. Governor William Weld (from a British banking family) so public in their expressions of grief over Garcia's death? Of course, it may simply be that many young people in the 1960s simply preferred to listen to music and use drugs rather than violently overthrow the political order. On the other hand, we do know that the CIA at the very least had an interest in the use of LSD to incapacitate its "enemies." From: arzachel@sirius.com (Jason Witherspoon) Date: 19 Aug 1995 18:57:35 GMT I remember reading somewhere (there's heavy documentation of facts for you) that Mae Brussel held that the whole Grateful Dead phenomenon was an MI5 experiment in mass mind control. Mae seems to've been one of the only researchers who formulated lots of "conspiracy" theories about the events of the sixties (see my related, recently-started topic on Charles Manson) & I, for one would be interested in hearing more in the neglected area. I had tried to post it in here but AOL was having problems. These ultra liberals felt they were looking at a communist. I know the CIA used LSD. but what seems to be on the subject, on t.v., is the death of one scientist who worked for the CIA, not the general public, and it was numerous generations ago. Subject: Jerry Garcia and the Media's Communism From: dmtrooper@aol.com (Dmtrooper) Date: 14 Aug 1995 11:50:27 -0400 Message-ID: <40nrc3$j6@newsbf02.news.aol.com> Hmmm.... Why has there been so much media coverage of Jerry Garcia? This is a question that I asked after seeing endless CNN reports on his fans and followers. Why was a show of nightline devoted to it? or Crossfire? What's going on was my question. Will there be a show a crossfire devoted to Micky Mantel? If not what did Jerry have that Micky didn't? After watch several shows and reflecting on it, it was obveous..... Communism. You might think that this seems strange if you are coming from a liberal background. I called a friend of mine and he also relized it without me having to tell him. Let me ask you how can the media glorify a man behind a band that is responceable for like 90% of the LSD trade in this country? When the grateful dead comes to town, every teenager for 100 miles KNOWS that the LSD will come with it. (If anyone would like to argue this point, why don't you go ask the 16-24 Drug crowd this?) There is one reason, and in all of these reports I have heard the word Acid zero times. So what did they mention? Well CNN mentioned that he used his "global influence" to premote such issues as envornmental concerns. As many people know, the Envornmental movement is a front for new world communism. Greatful Dead fans premote "free love" (free lust?), and the "we don't OWN the earth" philosophy of Karl Marx and the NEW AGE movement. If you study the New Age movement, Karl Marx, and HIPPY philosophy, they all tie into one big common missperseption. They all think they can have some euphoric society, here on earth, if we blind our eyes to reality. What they don't know is that we all are INDIVIDUALS, and there are differences in culture and religion. The marxist way of thinking will not solve anything, and will destroy what little Life, liberty, and happiness that we have left. Don't sell out america and fall for the communist propaganda hidden in the educational system and media.
