She said it is a mutagen used in growing various plants to produce unusually large plants. The chemical prevents the plant from producing a cell wall during cell division, thus producing cells 2-3 times larger than normal, and therefore plants 2-3 times larger than normal. I thought this had interesting possibilites! It's supposed to be placed on the growing tip when the plant is still very young (probably just after the first leaves are formed?) and just a little bit.
